Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

We had a little winter storm Tuesday night and Wednesday. 

The kids and I took a walk this morning with our cameras to see what we could see.



After our walk, I dug our van out and we headed to Chick-fil-a (which was closed) and then Walmart.  We had lunch at Subway and then the kids spent their gift cards on new toys to occupy them.  School's been out since Friday and we are all going crazy.

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

I'm not sure what's gotten into me, but on Wednesday, I decided to decorate. Dan and the kids helped me pull out our tree and ornaments. It was nice to have help for a change.

Zac claimed our fall wreath. We put it under the tree for him so maybe he won't eat on the tree. I've found him curled up on it many days.

Allie with Bob, the blow up Christmas Tree. This is the tree my Mom mailed to us in Germany before we got our household shipment. My friend, Annie, called him Bob and the name stuck. Jaelyn has loved these snowmen since she was very little. She's always exicted to get them out every year. Dan and I aren't as excited as the songs have gotten a little annoying...especially when they turn on all 3 snowmen at the same time.

This is my Boyd Bear Nativity. This is the first year I've put it out in many years. I'm hoping little fingers and cat paws will leave it alone.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

We've had the first snowfall of the season today. It started about 10 this morning and has snowed all day long. There's probably about 2 inches of snow on the ground now. It's forecasted to stop this evening and will probably be melted by tomorrow (I can only hope, at least). Allie has been itching to play outside all day. I caught her trying to escape several times, but this house is totally Allie-proofed so there's no getting out - or in if you remember that horrible afternoon. Anyway, I got Allie and Caden all bundled up to get in the car for preschool and what did Allie do? Run straight out and lay in the snow to make a snow angel. And she continued to do that everytime she was allowed outside.

Caden and Jaelyn both tried out making snow angels. Jaelyn liked it, but Caden didn't care for the whole laying in the snow and getting cold thing. Jaelyn especially enjoyed catching snowflakes on her tongue. She said they tasted like french fries. I think we might need to get her taste buds checked out!
