Nana

You know, not everyone loves their spouse's parents or grandparents, but I do and I'm sad today for Dan's Grandma. Nana was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and had a mastectomy.  Today, she learned that her breast cancer has metastasized to a small spot on her rib.  They have a treatment plan in place and will start right after Christmas.  God knows all the details.  Will you please pray for complete healing for her?  I just hate that she's going to have to go through any of this.  Is it okay if I say that November and December have sucked this year?!

Prayer Requests

My parents went home today.  We had a great Thanksgiving visit.  I'm sad for the reason they came, but happy that they were able to come and breathe for a week or so before going home to deal with reality of settling my Grandma's estate with 2 of my aunts who, well, aren't very nice, to say the least.  Would you pray for God's grace and love to fill every aspect of that situation?

Also, Dan's Grandma is having a biopsy tomorrow to check a spot on her rib.  We need good news.

Prayers for our Friends

Our good friend, Danny, is on his way to Afghanistan for a year deployment. Seeing the pictures on his wife's blog are heart wrenching and hit so close to home after getting our Dan home. Would you please pray for Danny's safe and quick return and for Kim as she becomes everything to her kids (again) Jacob - 4, and A.J. - 2?

Prayers for Nana

I have a new prayer request. Dan's grandmother, Luria, has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. She's meeting with a surgeon tomorrow to start talking about a course of treatment. She has a lot on her plate right now....dealing with this new diagnosis and Daddy Doe's declining health. Will you please join us in praying for complete healing for Nana?

Prayers for my Grandpa and Doris

I just found out my Grandpa has cancer. I'm a little sketchy on details, but I know they did a biopsy and think they got it all. He's going to start treatment soon. Somehow they are going to use the tuberculosis virus in his bladder...my Dad explained it, but the details seemed to have escaped me. I'm feeling like the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz...If I only had a brain. Will you please pray for complete healing and that the treatment will be easy on him. He's 88. Also, his wife, Doris, is in the hospital after a fall. Thankfully she didn't break anything. The hospitalist thinks it is one of her medicines that's giving her trouble. I was lucky enough to get to see them last week when they were visiting at my Aunt's house. It was a wonderful visit. I also got to see my aunt, uncle and 2 cousins and their children.

ETA - I found my brain and google this morning. This is what I learned about the TB treatment...

Intravesical treatment is placed right into the bladder rather than being given by mouth or put into a vein. The most common form of this type of treatment for
bladder cancer is immunotherapy. This treatment causes the body's own natural
defenses (immune system) to attack the cancer.

BCG is an example of immunotherapy that is useful for treating low-stage bladder cancer. BCG is a type of bacteria that is sometimes used to vaccinate people against TB (tuberculosis). When used to treat bladder cancer, BCG is given right into the
bladder through a thin, flexible tube called a catheter. The body's immune
system responds to the BCG. Immune system cells are drawn to the bladder and
attack the cancer. BCG is usually given once a week for 6 weeks.

Mom's Home and Doing Great

Thank you so much for your prayers. After only 1 night in the hospital, my mom was able to go home yesterday afternoon. She'll get the pathology results back in a week or so. For now, she's just resting. I'm sure Dad is being a great nurse!

Just a reminder that my mom is having her thyroid surgery tomorrow. Please keep her in your prayers!

Prayer Request for my Mom

As many of you already know, a PET scan my mom had a month ago showed a mass on her Thyroid. In the following weeks, she had two ultrasounds, a nuclear medicine test and a needle biopsy. The results of all were misleading and inconclusive. Her endocronologist and surgeon have both recommended taking out her thyroid. She's scheduled her surgery for January 22. Will you please start praying for her? For the surgery itself, that the mass is benign, that she won't have any complications from the surgery, that she'll have a quick recovery, and that they will be able to regulate her thyroid medicine quickly.
